Hyphenate runs your finance function on their platform. Adopt can run it on yours.
Both put agents on top of the ERP you already have and both promise the same outcome. The four differences that actually decide it: how the agents learn your process, which systems they reach, where your financial data runs, and who owns what gets built for you.

Deployment and IP terms are set in your agreement, not by plan tier.
Software you run still leaves the close on your desk.

Ownership
Someone has to run the automation
Describing a process to an agent, tending it, and fixing it when a bank changes its statement format: with a software license, that someone is on your team.

Coverage
The integration catalog sets your coverage
Systems outside the catalog stay manual: older ERPs, bank portals, document stores. Those are usually where the close gets stuck.

Accountability
Exceptions land on you, with no one accountable
Every held item still needs a person, and a license does not put anyone on the hook for clearing it by close day.

Approval logic
Approval is all or nothing
A single "a human approves everything" setting means proven, high-volume work still queues for a person every cycle.
Month-end, when only the exceptions need you
Agents pull the statements, match the lines and hand your reviewer a finished run. What lands on your team's desk is the short list below, not the workqueue.
Every held item states the one thing wrong with it, and one cent out is out of balance.
Hyphenate vs Adopt AI
Hyphenate, the company formerly called Maximor, is the closest thing in this market to what we build, and they are good at it. They run on top of the ERP the same way we do, they bring a person in where judgment is needed, and they publish named customer results, from HiBid to Kiteworks, that we do not yet publish for in-house finance teams. Here is the honest version of where the two of us actually differ.
| Hyphenate | Adopt AI | |
|---|---|---|
| The promise | "Finance that runs itself, so you can sprint ahead" | Finance that executes itself, with you in control |
| Systems reach | Integrations with the major ERPs (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Workday) and the banks, billing, payroll and AP tools around them | The same, plus the systems with no API: older ERPs, bank portals, document stores. Agents operate an interface the way a person does |
| Where your data sits | Hyphenate's SaaS platform, with an optional dedicated private VPC. No on-prem option is described on their site | Your environment, if you choose: cloud, private cloud or on-prem |
| Model choice | Not described publicly. Your data is "never used to train models for other customers" | Any LLM, including one you already licence, with zero data retention |
| Who owns the agents | Hyphenate owns the platform. You own your data and the output produced for you, with 30 days to retrieve it after the contract ends (per their published MSA) | Every agent, skill and decision rule built for you is your intellectual property |
| How the agents learn your process | A self-learning platform that "trains on a company's historical spreadsheets, emails and system logs", with Hyphenate's accountants verifying the learned policies | Adopt's engineers build alongside your accountants, with the person who owns each rule in the room, and your people are trained to run what gets built |
| Proof before you commit | Published customer case studies with named close-time and headcount results | A pilot on your own close, with targets agreed in writing before it starts |
| Pricing basis | "Based on the scope of your finance function and the volume of work automated" | Accounting work completed, scoped in the pilot. No seats, no AI credits |
| Control | Audit-Ready Agents that propose entries for approval and escalate anything non-standard to a person | A posture dial per agent, per entity: watch, suggest, act with approval, act |
| Scope | Five areas sold as modules: order-to-cash, treasury, GL and close, procure-to-pay, reporting. The average customer runs six | Payables, receivables and the close on one ledger with one audit trail |
| Best fit | Teams on a supported ERP that want one vendor-hosted platform across the office of the CFO | Teams with a mixed stack, a data-location requirement, or a preference for owning what they paid for |

Trust is a dial, not a leap.
You decide what each agent may do, per entity and per agent. Start at watch, move the dial as the evidence accumulates. Nothing moves up a rung unless you move it.
The agent reads and reports only. Where every new engagement starts.
The agent proposes with evidence and a confidence score. A human accepts every entry. Today's default.
The agent prepares the full action and waits at a gate your reviewer controls.
The agent does the work and records it. For high-volume work you have already watched it do correctly.

Nothing in Adopt can move money.
Adopt cannot send a payment. Approving a bill instructs the system that already pays your vendors.

One cent out is out of balance.
Reconciliation has no tolerance setting, and agents record the statement balance exactly as your bank reported it. A rounded or derived balance would hide the errors reconciliation exists to catch.

It can always show its work.
The system stamps every suggestion, approval and write-back with who did it, when, and on what evidence, in a history no one can edit or overwrite. Your auditors get an answer to any question.
From the teams we work with
I have sincerely appreciated my time spent working with Adopt.
I am often impressed with both their willingness to dive in and absorb the technical subject matter of my industry and their competence in creating a bespoke AI agent solution that works symbiotically with my team’s established workflows.
Dan Kielar, Senior Manager, National R&D Tax Credit Practice, UHY
They say most AI projects fail, but that was definitely not the case here!
Adopt was brought in to develop a fully customized AI solution for our team… The project was an unequivocal success in no small part because of Adopt’s ability to work with us to map our process, take feedback on what was working and what wasn’t, and helping us with what we didn’t know.
Steven Nerat, UHY
No migration. A pilot.
- Day 1
Bring one close task
Agents run it on a simulated version of your workflow while you watch. That demo is the whole ask.
- Weeks 1–4
Pilot on your own close
Agents run at suggest posture. Your team accepts or corrects every entry inside the systems you already use.
- Day 30
Judge the numbers
Review the pilot against the targets we agreed. Move the agents up the ladder, or walk away having lost nothing.
Zero training on customer data

They run your finance function on their platform, as a self-learning service that stays theirs. We run it in whichever environment you choose, including on-prem, across the systems that have no API as well as the ones that do, and the agents we build for you are yours.
Yes. Maximor rebranded as Hyphenate on October 1, 2026, and announced a $45M Series A later that month. Same founders and same platform, under a name that reflects its spread across the office of the CFO. Everything on this page applies to both names.
Learning from history captures what your team did, workarounds included. Building with your accountants captures what your team means to do, with the person who owns each rule in the room. Either way, the agents need a reviewer early: ours start at watch and only move up when you move them.
It is usually the whole problem. Agents operate an interface the way a person does, so a subsidiary on an older ERP and a bank portal with nothing but a login are in scope rather than exceptions your team keeps handling by hand.
Yes. Cloud, your private cloud, or on-prem inside your own infrastructure. Zero data retention, your choice of model, and the deployment is written into the agreement rather than being a plan tier.
Yes. Every agent, skill and decision rule developed for you is your intellectual property, and that is in the contract, not the marketing.
No. Bank connections are read-only, and Adopt cannot send a payment. Approving a bill instructs the system that already pays your vendors.
You pay for accounting work completed, not seats or AI credits. The pilot sets the scope and the targets, and the agreement that follows prices the work at that scope. You see the number before you commit to anything beyond the pilot.
Judge us on your close, not our homepage.
