Commission Recalculation

Every controller has, at some point, quietly wondered whether the commission spreadsheet is actually right, and most never fully resolve the doubt, because the spreadsheet is the only place the calculation has ever lived and nobody has time to rebuild it from the comp plan's actual tiers. A full-population recompute, every deal, every rep, run straight from the comp plan's own tiered schedule rather than a trusted formula, is the only way to settle that doubt instead of living with it.

What it does

This skill recomputes commission for every deal in the bookings export against the comp plan's own tiered rate schedule, apportioning a deal that straddles a tier boundary across every tier it touches at that tier's own rate, with tiers resetting to zero at the start of each comp plan period and accumulating chronologically by close date within it. The recomputed total is then compared, rep by rep and period by period, against what payroll actually paid, and every discrepancy is reported on its own row with its own dollar effect, never netted against another rep or period.

The one rule it can't skip

It never substitutes a flat or "standard" rate when the comp plan tiers are incomplete. A plan period with even one tier carrying a blank rate is treated as incomplete in its entirety, since cumulative tier placement for every later deal in that period depends on the schedule actually being whole; every deal falling in such a period becomes an exception rather than computed around the gap. A deal whose amount isn't fully covered by contiguous, defined tiers, a gap between tiers or an amount beyond the rep's highest tier, is excluded entirely with the uncovered range named, never partially rated.

How the recalculation actually runs

Each deal is matched to its rep and plan period by close date, and its commission is apportioned across every tier it straddles, based on the rep's cumulative booked amount in that plan period before the deal plus the deal's own amount, at each tier's own rate. The Recalculated Schedule shows the cumulative range before and after each deal and the exact tier breakdown behind its commission. Each deal is then attributed to the payroll period matching the calendar month of its close date, and the recomputed total for that rep and period is compared line by line against the payroll register's actual commission paid, with any gap shown as its own row carrying its own dollar effect.

What it won't do

It won't rate a deal partially when its amount isn't fully covered by the rep's defined tiers; the whole deal is excluded and the uncovered range is named instead. It won't compute anything from a plan period with an incomplete tier schedule; every deal in that period becomes an exception until the schedule is finished. It won't force a payroll register using a different period convention to align with the calendar-month format this skill expects; a mismatch is reported, not silently reinterpreted. And it won't change payroll; the output is a recalculated schedule with a discrepancy list, not a payroll correction.
